Army wifes

Change

The last few weeks I found out to my own shame that I really have to force myself to update my blog. I don;t know why. Maybe it's the timetaking duty to make pictures, perhaps it's just because my heads full with schoolthings or there might be another reason, I don't know, but fact is that there weren't much posts lately. There are a couple of things that need to change. First I decided to get rid of the english talking and start expressing myself in my native language, which is Dutch. Second is that there need to be more outfits, if I'm up to it or not. They don't necessarily need to be outfit posts, they might be as well random posts like new fashion findings or even lifestyle things. It's time for (another) fresh, new start. I'm looking forward to it.

Quick one

I'm sooo sorry, I'm trying to update more. It's not that I haven't got enough time, I have plenty of it, it's just that it's a lot of efford to make pictures. That's the reason for the mobile phone-pic of today, I'm too lazy! Please forgive me, I'm hoping it will change soon!

Karaoke night

I just got back from my friends place. We organised a karaoke night containing the good old songs from Whitney Houston, Aqua, Radiohead etcetera, a lot of alcohol, lots of food and six people with horrible voices. Check the result below, IF YOU DARE. Haha. It was so much fun!

10 questions about... Fashion

I decided to add a new concept, named "10 questions about...", answering 10 questions about certain subjects. Of course subjective! First subject: Fashion.

1. What's the most enoying thing during shopping?
Too crowded, AND finding out that you just don't have enough money for that one perfect dress. Oh and seeing a 50-year-old taking the same garmentpieces as you did :-(

2. How often do you go shopping?
It depends on the amount of money I have. Besides I don't 'go shopping', I just pop by stores if I'm in town. And I must not search for things. Like when I need a jeans and I start looking for one, I can't find one, but if I'm not particulary looking for one, I find one on purpose.

3. Where do you buy your clothes?
Surprisingly: H&M. But I like the more 'unique' stores as well: small boutiques with more exclusive clothes.

4. Cheap or expensive?
Mainly cheap, because I'm a little bit frightned to wear expensive clothes. It's a shame to get dirt on expensive clothes, or even worse: rip it. That's not really an issue with cheap clothing. But I do have expensive clothes as well, because (if you don't rip them) they last longer than, for instance, an H&M-piece.

5. What's your favorite shopping-city?
In Holland, that's Amsterdam. Worldwide, it's Barcelona, I think. Though I was surprised about the cute shops there are in Cologne! And in Portugal there are these amazing shoppingmalls, which are perfect as well.

6. If it was up to you, which stores would you have in your town?
Without a doubt: Topshop and New Look. And if there's a chance, I would like a Bershka and Zara as well, because we don't have them in my town, only in the bigger cities.

7. How would you describe your style?
That's an hard one. I used to wear dresses every day, but slowly a grey jeans creaped into my closet, which I started to wear a lot. Then a beige chino accompanied him and since two days they have a black sister-skinny. And now I mix a lot between styles, one day it's very classic, the other day it's more rock-chick. There's not really a label for my style.

8. What would you NEVER wear?
Crogs! Seriously, I wouldn't even caught dead in them. They're the most unfeminime shoes ever. And I don't really like UGGS (might hurt a lot of people by saying this), because they don't do anything good for your figure at all. If your skinny, they look crude, and when you're carrying a little weight, they even make you bigger. And I'm not really fond of neon-colors...

9. What's the most expensive garment-piece you have?
Probably my boyfriend blazer, it was a tough one. And all of my boots, because I think it's really usefull to invest in a good pair of winter-boots.

10. And what's your favorite garment-piece?
I'm not sure, I have a lot of dresses I'm really in love with. And I think I seriously would cry if my blazer or grey jeans aren't wearable anymore, they fit with almost everything.

Pappa don't preach

So here's the promised outfit post of today. This outfit contains a story actually, because all of the pieces are new (bought in the last two weeks) and the price of the total look is not even 50 euros. The pants, blouse and shoes were all ten euros, the black top was 7 euros and the necklace was 8 euro. The bracelet was a gift from my aunt, so that brings the total costs to 45 euros. Ain't that funny? It is kind of like my favorite hobby to get clothes as cheap as possible and make it look expensive. That's probably the reason why I'd rather go shopping at the end of the summer or at the end of the winter, because that's the time the SALE finally starts. And though I think H&M is mainly too commercial, it still remains my favorite store to shop. And yes, I hate it when I see a girl wearing the same dress or shoes, but I try to wear it as unique as possible (though it is nearly impossible with the H&M-clothing hehe. I once bought a dress in Portugal at H&M, four weeks later they sold them in Holland as well and suddenly EVERYONE had one. Bummer.).

But about today. Today I went for a drink with two of my closest friends. We had a lot of coffee, food, more coffee, more food and pie and some more coffee. It was so much fun, but wayyyy too much calories haha. Which made me think why we always bother so much about calories and getting thin. Imagine yourself being a boy, lying in bed with your girlfriend, waking up in the morning, grabbing her into your arms. What would you rather feel? A bag of bones or a lot of love to hold? And of course I must admit that I'm dieting as well when I feel I'm getting bigger, but we have to face reality: no one is perfect. If you actually were thinner, would that make you happier? Maybe it will for a while, but after then, you're getting tired of always thinking about the amount of calories you're eating or drinking and everytime you eat a delicious piece of the best chocolate pie in the world, you feel guilty because you feel it flowing to your hips immediatly. And though I am not saying we all should become grease and overweight, but we should not care so much about how we look. Be yourself and remember: the more you weight, the more of you there is to love :-)

New Shoes

I am so sorry for the lack of updates! I'm working on it, but I just don't have the creativity for new outfits and everytime I do wear something cute, I can't find the guts to make a picture of it. But I promise that it'll change, starting tomorrow!

I bought this new shoes last week in Amsterdam, together with a black see-through top. I'll wear it tomorrow AND PROMISE TO MAKE A PICTURE OF IT! Thanks for your patience :-)

Tomorrow I'm heading off to Germany for a day with my cousin. We're not quite sure yet what to expect to find there (we're going to Bocholt, which is not quite known for it's good style-taste), but we'll see!

Jewelry

Today I passed by the H&M cause there was a sale, but instead of 50 percent-off tops, I found these full priced jewelry. The rings were both €4,95 and the set of ear buttons were €2,95.

Animal

Last week I was at a market in Chioggia, where I accidentally found this leopard scarf. While the rest of the scarfs belonged to my great grandmother's curtain rail, this cute scarf popped out. And it was only 2 euros! I always thought that orange wasn't quite my color, but as a eye-catcher in a simple brown outfit it's perfect. The scarf is a mix of patterns: leopard combined with plain orange and detailed with chain-prints.

These looks

These two looks should belong to my closet. I'm absolutely in love with the yellow oneshoulder dress and the grey wedges, the ones who designed them, really deserve a statue.

By the way, make sure you visit the Sounds of Symmetry Garment Sale once in a while, because you might find something you've been looking for!

Sounds of Symmetry Shop

Sounds of Symmetry Garment Sale!
There are several reasons why I made an online outlet for selling my clothes.
1. I became taller and bigger, so a couple of garmentpieces don't fit anymore
2. My taste slightly changed, so there are a few pieves I haven't been wearing for months/years
3. If there should be a movie titled 'Bad buys', I will have the leading role because I never think while buying clothes, I just do. And that results in lots of never-worn-and-never-will-be-wearing clothes.
That's why, so if you want to update your closet, please check the Sound of Symmetry Shop

Back from Italy

I'm back from my two-week-trip to Italy. We've stayed at two campsides and we've been visiting Venice, Rosolina Mare and Chioggia and the weather was GREAT. Though one day there was a small tornado, so that was a little bit frightening, but for the rest of the week the temperature was 34 degrees at its lowest. And ever since we've been back in Holland, the only thing I've seen yet is rain, rain and rain and the temperature must be somewhere around 17 degrees. I'm seriously thinking about moving to Spain or Italy. Speaking about that: in May 2011 I hope to pass my national exams and then planning to go to Spain or Italy for the summer to work at an animationteam at a campside. The plan is to follow some spanish/italian lessons this year and work a lot to finance my trip. After the summer, I'm hoping to go to France for at least half a year to work as an au pair. Big dreams or realistic future plans? I hope that last one, and untill that, we're still praying for better weather in Holland.

New buys

Below the amazing dress I told you about in my previous post. It was only 7 euros, can you believe it? I haven't tried it on yet, but I don't think it will be a bad buy. Besides, 7 euros, that's probably the cheapest dress I've ever bought haha!

Dress - Shelley's

I've got the brown-ish waistcoat from my mom as a thank you gift for helping her with her business last friday.

Waistcoat - Local market

Normally I won't show my panties here, obviously, but these ones were so adorable that you had to see them. Aren't they lovely?

Underpants - HEMA

80's

Though I'm grounded, I still went shopping today with my friend C. It was so much fun, the weather was perfect and I bought so much nice stuff (like a lace white dress for only 7 euros! Can you believe that?!). Oh tomorrow I'll get to know if I passed this year or not and you can't even imagine how nervous I am at this moment. I don't want to think about the fact that there is still a chance that I won't pass and I have to do this year AGAIN. I mean, everything you've been thaught this year will be repeated and what about the new class with other, younger people you don't even know yet and your own class which you have to leave behind. Dear Lord I really really reaaaaally want to pass or else everything will be worthless :-(

Hup Holland Hup!

Yes! We did it! We beat Brazil in the World Cup! The last time we did that, was in 1974 and now it's the second time in history!! Gosh, the game was so nerve-racking, I have no nails left anymore. Next round is the semi-final, which will be against Uruguay of Ghana.

Today it was somewhere about 36 degrees and I assure you, it has never been this hot in my room at 9:30 pm EVER. I swear, it must be around 35 degrees here, and that it WITH ventilator. So I think you all understand why I won't go to bed for the following 4 hours, in the hope the temperature will decrease.

Even though I want to walk around naked all day, it did give me some inspiration for a couple of summer looks. You can get all of the outfits at hm.com.

Schooltime's over!

Finally! This schoolyear is over and done! Well, not officially, and it's still not sure if I'll pass this year. But we will find out on monday. Untill then I will enjoy the perfect weather (this friday: 36 degrees!). And fingers crossed untill monday of course!

radiant

Tomorrow it's the last day of my test week and after then, summer holidays are finally starting! Unfortunately I'm grounded for the following month, so the first four weeks are party-less, but I'm glad though! Besides I'm leaving to Italy the 12th of July, so I won't miss that much being grounded. Have you already mentioned that the Netherlands reached the quarter final at the World Cup? They won 2-1 againt Slovakia and now they need to beat Brazil this friday. Seems like a biiiig task, but I think we're not completely without a chance. Well, my french is yelling at me that I have to study, so I will. Thumbs up for my perseverance ha-ha!

18:17

Finally! It's getting summer in Holland too! Seriously, we had to wait a month or three for the weather to actually get a little better, but today it was somewhere about 30 degrees I think. Though my parents were at the beach all day, I wasn't jealouse at all. Of course, I had to study, but studying gets a lot easier wearing a bikini and sunglasses and an icecream in your hand. Besides, with this weather I prefer doing as less excercise as possible, so sitting around all day wasn't bad at all.

First I wore a jeans short with a see-trough top. I took the top of, because it was getting so warm and when I turned inside to get rid of my pants and put on my bikini, I found out that I already had the sunmarks on my legs haha! Looked so silly, but fortunately it disappeared during the day while wearing my bikini.

I did some citron-juice in my hair because they say it makes your hair lighter when you're in the sun, and I turned completely blond. I kind of look like malibu barbie now: blond hair and a dark-tanned skin. Hopefully it will fade a little in the next few days.

Dessert is served

Though my mom hates it when I do it, I keep feeding my pets strawberry desserts. My dog loves it and my cat acts like she likes it but she actually does it because it's another 10 seconds of attention. But you have to agree with me that this is the most adorable thing you've ever seen, right?

16:59

This weekend I'm home alone. Seems kind of nice, but the reason I'm all by myself for three days is that my parents and brothers are to the beach for three days (they're staying at a campside) and I still have my test week, so I have to study this weekend. I know, I know, I'm a die-hard (rhymes with retard...). But hey, I already arranged a barbecue tomorrow and I'm hoping to go to a festival this Sunday, so I won't be bored at all I think! Besides, it is kind of chill to have a whole house available for only me, myself and I. Unfortunately they didn't take the cat with 'em, so I'm still inflicted with that monster...

Arrivederci Azzurri

An homage to Italy, who didn't reach the next round of the World Cup. And an extra tribute to Fabio Cannavaro, because it was his last performance with the national team and he's still extremely hot, though he's already 36. Arrivederci Azzurri e grazie Fabio!

15:49

So my social studies test went quite well, but that's kind of logical since I've studied my ass of for that test. Tomorrow we have a literature history test, which is really boring but Dutch is one of my best subjects so I don't reallt worry (yet). Tonight it's the last match of the group phase at the World Cup for the Netherlands. We have to win or need a draw to be group leader, but we're placed for the next round already, so it doesn't really matter what the result will be. For now I'm heading back to my studybook because I finally found the motivation and got to turn to good account.

woensdag 23 juni 2010

19:41

I'm studying my ass of. At least I'm trying now, which took a while. But I'm confinced that I will pass tomorrow and the day after tomorrow. Only the tests after the weekend might be a little problem. But let's stay optimistic!

17:01

So... There's this dilemma. This sunday there's a (free!) festival at the Hague and Justin Nozuka (omg he's so gooood) is performing. I really really want to go but there are two things that might cause a little problem: 1. I don't have the money for a train ticket and 2. Monday I have a math test and Tuesday English, history and art history. I really have no clue what to do :-(

Ohhh gosh, by the way: have you seen the new Calvin Klein fragrance commercial? The one with Jamie Dornan? He is so fine, oh my...

I'm stuDYING

Let me picture you how today looked like: The morning started at 8:30, while it was already 22 degrees. Arriving at school, it was already so nice and warm that I couldn't force myself to study. During the lessons, I tried and tried my best and I must admit: it nearly worked. But then I came outside again and my motivation disappeared. Then there was this moment I took my books out of my bag and even started to study, but it didn't take any longer than five minutes. Now I'm watching England against Slovenia and trying to focus on my social studies, but I don't think that will do. Perhaps luck is on my side tomorrow and I will still get the grade I really really need. Fingers crossed.

dinsdag 22 juni 2010

Cute!

Thinking about getting one of the following items. Don't you just love the black dress? Perfect for a night out. And what to think about the drapery jacket, couldn't be any better (well, perhaps the color. This isn't quite my color I think). The skirt is just cute and the pink dress would go perfectly with a pair of high heels and a fedora hat.
